Have you started noticing some sagging or droopiness in your face? Would you like to look younger again without undergoing invasive surgery procedures and losing money due to down time? The best option for you may be the “weekend” facelift, also known as the mini facelift.

The Procedure

Also known as ‘Rhytidectomy’, a facelift smoothes the loose skin on your face and neck, tightens underlying tissues and removes excess fat. The mini facelift is a very quick and minimally invasive surgery that can take years off your face. It is designed to target a few specific problem areas of your face but not the entire face, like a traditional facelift would. Mini face lifts are particularly useful in correcting sag in the cheeks, jawline, and neck.

The procedure is performed while the patient is under local or general anesthetic and it is most commonly performed in an outpatient facility or clinic. The surgeon will then make just a few small incisions alongside the nose or under the jaw line.

One of two methods may be employed, with the non-endoscopic facelift; the surgeon will make slightly longer incisions so that the skin can be loosened enough for her to be able to see the underlying tissues. The surgeon then reshapes the tissues and tightens the muscles, and liposuction out the unwanted fatty deposits.

The other method is endoscopic. This means that the surgeon makes incisions just big enough for a tiny camera wand to be inserted into the facial tissue. The cosmetic surgeon then watches his movements on a video screen, allowing him to use his instruments under the skin to do all of the necessary reshaping without opening up the skin much. Obviously this method offers many benefits as the incisions are smaller and the healing time is faster.

Advantages over the Traditional Facelift

The mini facelift is a better choice for many people than the traditional lift. One of the advantages is that it is a much quicker procedure. It can be performed in an hour or two, depending on how many areas need to be treated. A traditional face lift, however, can last anywhere from three to seven hours!

Since the mini lift is less invasive, requiring less skin cutting and smaller incisions, the recovery and healing process is much quicker as well. This means less time away from work and normal social activities.

Another benefit of the mini facelift is that there is less risk of complication with the surgery because it is simpler and requires less time under anesthesia. Additionally, the mini lift is much less expensive than the traditional face lift as it requires less surgeon and anesthesiologist time on the job.

Are You a Good Fit?

You may be a good candidate for the mini facelift if you have minor sagging or wrinkling around your jaw, cheeks or neck. You may do better with a more inclusive surgery if you have significant droopiness or wrinkling. As long as this surgery is a good fit for you, you can expect a fresher, younger looking face that you can be satisfied with for years to come.
