The thread face lift has become a common procedure among face lift fans. This convenient and easier alternative to a full blown surgical face lift offers men and women the chance to have youthful and vibrant skin without the trouble of getting a real, painful, and costly face lift. The thread lift, regardless of its less invasive procedure, works effectively against sagging skin in all areas of the face. It can be used for the entire face or can be focused on specific areas such as the jawline, the cheeks, and the neck. In fact, it can reduce sagging more quickly without the need for a grueling recovery period. The effects are visible immediately after the procedure and you don’t have to undergo an intensive and highly risky procedure anymore.
The thread face lift is done using special threads that are designed to reposition skin and facial tissue. This type of face lift still requires surgery, then the threads are placed on the skin to hold it in its new position. Thread lift procedures may differ depending on the type of threads used.
One of the two most popular types is the Contour ThreadLift, which minimizes the traces of the procedure by using clear polypropylene threads. The threads feature barbs that grasp the area where the threads are inserted. This type of thread lift is unidirectional. According to the U.S. FDA, around 9000 Contour ThreadLift procedures were done in 2004.
The other popular type is the FeatureLift, also known as Aptos Thread Lift, which is bidirectional. The thread used in the Aptos Thread Lift is inserted under the skin, after which it gathers tissue to fill up the areas where the skin is sagging. For this reason, the thread is equipped with barbs that run along the length of the thread. This type of thread face lift, however, only entered the market in 2005, but in 2006, almost 5000 Aptos Thread Lift procedures were already being done. Most of the available thread face lift procedures can be completed in under two hours and does not require anesthesia anymore.
In a thread face lift procedure, what happens is that your surgeon makes small incisions in the targeted areas then inserts thin threads into these incisions. The threads are designed to attach to the tissue. Once the threads are in place, the surgeon will pull the threads to lift the face. The sagging skin is lifted up and the skin is smoothened. Due to its very simple nature, you can see the improvements almost immediately after the procedure, which usually takes just one hour, including the thread face lift in the facial skincare procedures that are called “lunchtime lifts”. In fact, you can even provide comments to your surgeon about your new look since most thread face lift procedures are done with the patient fully conscious.
Thread lifts are more affordable than conventional face lifts, and you can enjoy the short and smooth process of a less invasive and hassle-free face lift. Although thread face lift procedures are not as widely done as other non-surgical face lift alternatives, it is still a good face lifting process but one that requires the expertise of a surgeon. Thus, in getting a thread face lift, it is important to find a good surgeon.
The thread face lift is available for almost anyone, though it is generally more advisable for patients with minor skin sagging and for younger patients who are first experiencing the disadvantages of weakening muscles in the face. It can also reduce minor wrinkles and fine lines. For major sagging and creasing in older patients, the thread face lift may not be the best option. Thus, the thread lift is best for patients aged 35 to 45. A thread lift can also be done with neck lifts or brow lifts for a more complete rejuvenation of the face.
