Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Yet no woman is completely satisfied with her look.
Take a painting you have done. Are you satisfied with the result after you are finished painting?
Or do you think a few more strokes of the brush are necessary for that master piece that exists in your mind?
A work of beauty is never finished.
A woman always wants to recreate that perfect beauty.
She will go to any length to get it.
More so in the present environment when so many options are available.
Be it the scalpel of a plastic surgeon or the exorbitant product that promise to transform your appearance within days.
Lips have always been the center of attraction of a woman’s body.
Perfect pouts are the envy and desire of every single woman.
Hence the concept of Lip Enhancement is the prime beauty concern of all women.
What exactly is Lip Enhancement?
According to Wikipedia” Lip Enhancement” is type of cosmetic surgery which produces fuller and plump lips.
But in broader prospective we can say lip enhancement refers to different method by which a lip is defined and is given a full and shapely form free of any lines and wrinkles.
What are the different options available for lip enhancement?
It can be permanent or temporary.
Temporary lip enhancement can be done by way of injectable lip enhancement.
It is the most quick and immediate as well painless way of lip enhancement.
In these process dermal fillers is directly injected into the selected lip area to add volume to the lips and define the vermilion boarder of lip. Collagen and fat injections are also used for this purpose.
Theses injections are quite popular because of the ease with which the whole procedure is done and is relatively painless.
This is because the surgical needle used for this purpose by the doctors are very fine.In addition to that topical anesthesia is also often used.
Hence pain and discomfort is minimal.
Collagen lip injection used for lip augmentation generally lasts 3-4 months, and while fat injections last slightly longer.
Collagen is absorbed by the body slowly and hence requires a repeat treatment after 3-4 months.
Fat can also be injected into the lip. The fat is harvested from another area of the body (often the abdomen or thighs) and is purified before it is injected into the lips. An advantage to this procedure is that there is no possibility of an allergic reaction. As with collagen, results are temporary but usually lasts longer than collagen injections.
What is important in this process that it also removes the upper lip lines as well any fine lines around the mouth.
After a lip enhancement procedure there may be some swelling of the lip which may last up to a fortnight. Applying ice pack helps in reducing the swelling.
Permanent lip enhancement on the other hand involves lip surgery under local anesthesia. In this process an implant is inserted into the lip skin to give definition and volume. This implant can be synthetic or natural.
Natural lip implant is usually natural collagen sheet harvested from dead human body and processed. It is called Alloderm and is the most popular method used for lip enhancement. This material is inserted into the lip by making tiny incisions on mouth corners and then is stitched back.
The only draw back of this method is that this method though involves surgery is not permanent in nature in its effect.
Alloderm also subsequently gets integrated into the natural tissue and its effect lasts only 6 months to one year.
Synthetic Lip Implants
Gore-Tex, SoftForm and soft ePTFE are other synthetic options with permanent results. They do not shrink and are never absorbed into the body. They also remain in place because scar tissue forms on either end.
To insert the implant, a small incision is made in the inside of the lip. The material is then made into the shape of a small tube and it is inserted with a small needle.
Synthetic lip implants are foreign substances and may become infected or be rejected by the body. If this occurs, the implants can be removed.
But remember it is your body and the only one you have got.
