Permanent Make Up | Is It Really Permanent
The permanency of Micro pigmentation procedures depends on the skins ability to absorb the pigment, the health of the skin and the pigment color implanted. The pigments are implanted into the upper dermal area of the skin.
A lot also depend on your lip care routine after the procedure.
The pigments will fade over a period of time varying from two to five years after which time a re-touch will be necessary. As aging is a continual process of natural lightening of the skin and hair, the fading rate of the pigments gives the opportunity to change the pigment color with each re-touch, to suit the bodies color changes.
Also a lot depends on the care you take of your lips and other body parts where micropigmentation procedure has been done.
Two visits are generally required, the original treatment, followed up by a second treatment 6-8 weeks later. Further touchup treatments will be necessary to keep the color intensity as needed.
The procedure and recovery
An initial consultation with the micro-pigmentation specialist will be made at least 7 days prior to the actual procedure. A health history will be reviewed to assure your candidacy for permanent make-up. The entire procedure and recovery phase will be discussed, colors and placement of pigment will be decided and *before* photos will be taken. An allergy test will be performed to determine possible sensitivity to the dye. The dye must remain in the skin at least 7 days for accurate allergy test results.
On the day of the procedure, the exact color will be mixed and placement will be outlined and agreed upon. A local anesthetic or topical anesthetic gel will be applied. You will be awake during the procedure but should experience minimal pain or discomfort. Most of the procedures will be completed in 60 minutes.
After the procedure, the site may be slightly bruised, swollen and tender to touch. Cold compresses applied to the site for a few hours will ease any discomfort, although a mild pain reliever may also be needed. It is very important to take proper lip care after lip pigmentation is done to make the whole process successful and the result effective.
You will be advised to apply an antibiotic ointment for 1-2 days to keep the area soft. Most patients resume all normal activity within 24 hours. Make-up and contact lenses can be used after a few days.
The color will fade over the next two weeks. After six to eight weeks you will be able to return for a free touch-up. This is to fine tune your look, darken the pigment, make a bolder line, or simply replace lost pigment.
The final color can be maintained with the use of sun block. This will prevent fading of color and will preserve your new look for at least 7-10 years.
So you may notice how important it is to take proper care of your lips after lip pigmentation to maintain the hue you wanted from the entire operation.
These permanent cosmetic treatments are now widely preferred over plastic surgeries because they can be done in less time, and also since they are much less painful. These are also seen as more subtle treatment methods than plastic surgery and are said to ‘lunch hour facelift’ because of their speed and also they are deemed to be more cost effective. Care must be exercised when selecting a permanent cosmetologist. A non-profit professional organization called the society of permanent cosmetic professionals, who exist to promote ethics and education for the cosmetic industry and awareness for the public can be contacted for a reliable source of treatment and knowledge.
Common Questions About Permanent Make-up
Is the procedure safe?
Permanent cosmetics are applied using standard medical sterilization methods in order to prevent infections. Sterile, single use instrument tips are used with every client. The pigments are composed of sterile iron oxide, which has an extensive record of safety.
How long will the procedure take?
Eyebrows and eyelids take about two hours each. Lip pigmentation requires about three to four hours. The second application takes less time than the initial procedure.
Permanent Cosmetics involves the application of pigment into the superficial skin layer of the eyebrows, eyelids, and lips. Recovery time is minimal and the improvement in coloration results in a natural and more youthful appearance. The initial treatment provides most of the desired coloration. A second treatment is usually scheduled in one to two months to blend the color evenly.
Because the brow frames the face, permanent eye brows are the most popular of all procedures. Color pigmentation is introduced into the area where your eyebrows are usually filled in with pencil. The detail of each simulated hair stroke enables us to achieve a more natural look than conventional cosmetics. Besides looking great, this procedure also saves the time spent daily attempting to get both eyebrows even, and you’ll never be embarrassed that they have worn or smudged off. Alopecia patients and chemotherapy patients can both benefit from brows and eyeliner.
Permanent Eye Liner
Permanent eyeliner can be a dramatic or a subtle enhancement of the lashes. Color is places between lashes building up to the fullness of individual preferences. Some prefer a smudged, softer appearance; others desire a bold, definite line. Any thickness can be created and any color blending can be achieved.
This procedure is wonderful for those with allergies to cosmetics, unsteady hands, bad eyesight or contact wearers.
Men, as well as women, can benefit from permanent eye color.
