I always wondered till today about how to use a lip stain. But now I got a very unique gift.I got a pair of Lipstain By CoverGirl.I am naturally excited to try it out.So I did a bit of research about this lip product and here is the result.

lipstainA lip stain is a cosmetic product that contains either water or a gel base. To help the product stay on the lips, many stains may contain alcohol. These lip coloring products are available in a variety of formulas, colors, and application types. With so many to choose from, there’s a lip stain that will flatter everyone and provide ease of use.

The idea behind lip stains is to temporarily saturate the lips with color with a dye, rather than applying a colored wax to the lips to color them. A lip stain is usually designed to be waterproof so that the color will be long lasting, and once the stain dries, it should not smear, stain, wear unevenly, or transfer to the teeth. A lip stain may come in a bottle with an applicator which is used to brush the stain onto the lips, and it can also come in a small jar, with users applying the stain with a finger or a cosmetic brush.

Different Types of LipStain

LipStain is usually found in the following forms.
• Brush-on
• Marker tip
• Gel pumps
• Cream or pot

Home Made Lipstain Recipe

You can make lipstain at home too.
Buy a box of red Jell-O. Empty it into a convenient container. Use your fingers, a lip brush or a Q-tip to apply it to your lips. Slightly wet the applicator before attempting to apply the Jell-O to your lips. Once you apply the Jell-O to your lips, rub them together. If there are left over crystals on your lips then you can buff them off with a cosmetic wedge or clean Q-tip. Now look at your lips and gauge the level of stain. If you want more color, you can apply a second application.
You can experiment with food colors too.
They are quite cheap and the result is fantastic once you get the hang of it.

How to apply lipstain

Before you try to apply lipstain one important point you should remember is that while a lip stain colors the lips, it will not necessarily provide sheen or gloss. Some products come with a moisturizer which will keep the lips moist, and a lip stain can also be blended with a plumper for a more desirable look, or a gloss which will make the lips shiny. Lip stain can also be applied as a base layer before applying lip gloss, so that lips will be moisturized, glossy, and more visible. Lipstain when applied beneath lipstick lasts longer as lip color long after the lipstick has faded.

Before applying lipstain you must exfoliate your lips.
In fact it is a good way to start your lip makeup process whatever may be your lip color.
You can exfoliate your lips by using a tooth brush or simply a damp terry towel.
Just be gentle and do it with a light hand.

The next step is to apply the lipstain.
The one that comes in shape of marker pen is easiest one to use.
Use it as you would a lip liner pencil to color your lips.
Follow the natural outline of your lips and then fill the inside.
Depending on the depth of color you want, you may add several layers of the stain.
Allow the stain to dry completely.
You can top it up with lip balm or lip gloss.

Different Shades of Lipstain

Lip stains come in a range of colors, from various shades of red to browns, blacks, blues, greens, and other shades. As with lipstick, it is a good idea to test a lip stain before applying it to make sure that it works well with the wearer’s skin tone. The best way to test is to apply a small amount of a sample to the hand. If in doubt you can also ask for advice from the staff at a cosmetics counter. The staff may also provide hints and suggestions for applying lip stains and creating interesting looks with makeup. So go and have fun with your lip stain.
