Is Endoscopic Face Lift Really Scarless?

Endoscopic Face Lift

An endoscopic face lift is an affordable and convenient alternative to the expensive and highly invasive surgeries involved in conventional face lifts. For those who are not prepared for a conventional face lift but want to enjoy its effects can avail of an endoscopic face lift procedure. Due to its less invasive nature, the surgery poses fewer and milder risks and you can also recover from the procedure faster. The main benefit of an endoscopic face lift, however, is not its convenience as this is also offered by several other alternatives around.

The endoscopic procedure, however, though considered surgical because it requires incisions, is also called a scarless face lift surgery. This is because the process does not leave scars. In an endoscopic face lift surgery, tiny incisions less than an inch in length are made in strategically identified areas. Most incisions are made in the area behind the ear or above the hairline so they will be virtually invisible. Due to their small sizes and strategic placement, the face lift can be done without any visible scars.

After making the incisions, the endoscopic face lift procedure will have the doctor insert a certain thin and long device shaped like a wand. This device is equipped with a tiny camera that allows the surgeon to view the operation on a monitor, which is why there is no need for large incisions anymore. This is actually what is meant by endoscopic, or being able to look inside to see the condition of the facial muscles. The operation then works by removing the excess fat from the skin. Then the facial muscles and tissues that have loosened up are reshaped to bring them back to their original position and structure. As a result, the procedure effectively eliminates sagging skin and reduces wrinkles and creases. In some cases, an endoscopic face lift is accompanied by cheek implants.

Most facial skin problems that are addressed by a traditional face lift procedure can also be solved by an endoscopic face lift, so it really is an excellent alternative. However, effects may not last as long, but since the procedure is also more affordable and is less of a hassle, it is easier to get a follow up treatment.

An endoscopic face lift is an effective procedure in reducing the signs of skin aging that appear on the face. It is most ideal for people who are aged between 30 and 50, and those who will benefit the most from its scarless nature. It is, however, more ideal for those who do not have excessive amounts of skin. If so, a more invasive procedure may be necessary.

This type of face lift procedure also causes milder trauma to the face, which means it retains its healthy, natural glow, and its sensitivity to touch and temperature. These sensations are often somewhat lessened as an after effect of the conventional face lift.

However, since it is still a surgery, patients can expect some bleeding and swelling following the procedure, but these are pretty minimal. Some pain can be expected, and surgeons are required to place you under local anesthesia. The recovery, which usually takes just a week, is very quick so you can show off your younger and smoother face in no time. The procedure can also be done in a single clinic visit and is far more affordable than the traditional face lift. You also get to save because you don’t have to use a general anesthesia and an overnight hospital stay is not necessary. The success of an endoscopic face lift is also affected greatly by the expertise and skill of the surgeon. So look for a board-certified surgeon if you want to avail of an endoscopic face lift.
