Laser Vein Removal Information

What You Need to Know About Laser Vein Removal

Laser vein removal is a technological, advanced, and non-invasive medical method for eliminating or reducing spider veins (also called facial veins). Usually, such a procedure could be thoroughly effective even on its own. However, in several special cases, it could be combined with Sclerotherapy, another technique for spider vein removal. Laser vein removal methods could be better for facial vein removal than for varicose vein removal (or other larger veins).

A typical laser vein removal technique is relatively simple. This could be attributed to the continuous technological advances and developments in the medical field. It is also so far much faster and safer compared to other existing techniques. It is not surprising that more people are choosing laser vein removal for elimination of unwanted veins in the face, and at times in the legs.

During such laser vein removal, laser light is strategically and accurately directed to the vein cluster underneath the skin surface. Because laser is used, the surrounding tissue would not be affected unnecessarily. The moment laser finds its way towards the unwanted blood vessels, the heat produced would be absorbed immediately by the red portion of the blood (also called the hemoglobin).

No harm is incurred even when the blood begins to clot because the target vessels or veins are not in any way significant to the essential or normal face or leg circulation. The vein lining then starts to deteriorate. From here on, targeted veins start to fade away and are eliminated naturally by the body through the subsequent and natural healing process. The result is younger looking and smoother skin without the unlikely and embarrassing unwanted veins.

As technology continues to evolve, new variations of already sophisticated laser vein removal arise. Thus, if you visit a surgeon for such a treatment, you would hear about ELT or endovenous laser treatment. It functions using similar principles as the conventional laser vein removal techniques. The only difference is that in ELT, there is a very small laser device that is injected or put underneath the skin surface. Thus, the procedure could be considered internal.

ELT is deemed best and most effective in treatment and removal of varicose veins in the legs. It could help laser light isolate and then eliminate unwanted varicose veins that could be very hard to externally treat in many cases.

Be informed that whatever laser vein removal technique you choose, there could be required multiple follow-up sessions or appointments. Each procedure could last about more than half an hour. Laser application itself could be slightly painful. It could feel like a small rubber band snap to the skin. Patients normally report minimal pain within a week following the procedure.

There is also a required recovery time. By this period, experts assert that the patient should not feel any pain or untoward sensation related to the laser vein removal. It usually takes long, but not as long as when you take surgical procedures to get rid of those unwanted veins.
